Intermediate Pottery: Raku (6 Week)

Join our specialised 6-week Intermediate raku course, expand on your skills and delve into a mesmerising ancient firing method with beautiful results.

This six-week course has been designed for people with more experience who would like to develop their existing skills and start to gain knowledge in a broader range of building, firing and glazing techniques.

Bespoke to you and your making style, these sessions will let you explore a project you really want to work on, creating pieces specifically for a raku firing, and helping you expand and develop on your skills in a supportive environment.

What is raku?

Raku is an ancient Japanese low-firing method using combustible materials to create fantastic effects. Red hot pots are pulled out of the kiln at 1000°c creating unique crackled glazes, metallic sheens, and dark, earthy patterns on your work.

Should I be on the Advanced Course or the Intermediate?

The intermediate is for learners with more experience, looking to develop their own projects, improve skills, and develop ideas with support.

Advanced learners have a broad understand and are looking to develop projects of their own. Also looking only for technical assistance to realise their ideas fully.

All materials and equipment provided.
