“Seamus is something of a musical wizard. Mixing his influences from his Irish roots, acoustic folk and Americana, he has cemented himself as a key player here in the music scene.”
— Cornish Gig Guide
Solo artist Séamus McKenna has over a decade’s experience in writing, recording, and performing. Mixing influences from his Irish roots, acoustic folk, and Americana, Séamus has a unique yet familiar sound. Racking up an average of 150+ gigs a year, Seamus is no stranger to a crowd.
In 2024, Seamus moved from the North of England to Cornwall in search of inspiration. His time in the ancient county has provided him with a wealth of local musicians to collaborate with. He is currently curating a series of events called “Get Folk’d!”, promoting local artists and helping support the grassroots music scene. He is also working on a number of collaborative songs with other artists in the area.
Séamus has a BA (Hons) in Songwriting and Musical Composition and has released a number of his own recordings, including 2022’s single Man on the Moon and his debut album Take Me To The Mountains, named after its title track, which was featured on BBC Merseyside and BBC Radio 6 Music. In 2024, Seamus released Calling To You, which was well received and picked up by BBC Introducing South West. 2025 saw the release of By The Wind Sailor and a collaboration with Cornwall-based cellist Paddy Mitton (Swallows and Crows) to record and release a live version of the legendary Irish song The Parting Glass.
Seamus has hit the ground running in 2025, working on a huge range of collaborations, festivals, and events. Highlights of the year include performances at Paradhis Festival (main stage), St Ives Arts Club, The Poly Theatre Falmouth, Newquay Food Festival, Porthleven Food Festival, Penzance Food Festival, Dart Music Fest (main stage), The Cornish Bank, The Fish Factory, The KCM, Falmouth Pavilions, and many, many more.
Keep On Keeping On is Seamus’s first studio album. Capturing the raw essence of his live performance, the album exemplifies the folk genre and is uncompromising in its sound and structure. Out March 4th, 2026.
Séamus is now based in Porthleven, Cornwall, and continues to build a following through regular touring, festivals, and local shows, while working with the artist community to create a better environment for artists to flourish.
