Dir. Lucy Cohen | 2025 | 98 mins plus Q&A | English
Set on the Cornish coast in the early 90s, a pre-digital era, where childhood was so different, where holidays were spent fighting the boredom and finding new adventures, children had their secret lives, and parents had theirs. Edge of Summer is a haunting coming-of-age drama.
When 11-year-old Evie arrives for a summer holiday, she expects days of beaches and boredom. Instead, she meets local boy Adam, who leads her deep into an abandoned tin mine said to be haunted by the mythical “Knockers”. What begins as an adventure then makes them question what is real and imagined in their lives above ground, childhood narratives unravel, and a darker, more complex picture of the adult world takes shape.
Edge of Summer captures the disorientating moment between childhood and adolescence, with brillinat performances from newcomers Flora Hylton and Joel Sefton-Iongi, who have been widely praised for their emotional depth and authenticity. The film also features performances from Josie Walker and Steffan Rhodri, alongside Cornish actor Edward Rowe.
Followed by Q&A, more details to be announced soon.
