Oscar nominated director, Poh Si Teng’s first full-feature documentary chronicles the experiences of three American physicians who travel to Gaza to treat casualties wounded in the Israeli- Palestenian conflict. In an attempt to confront Americans about the consequences of their actions – or inactions, Poh Si Teng reaches for a genre with mass popular appeal: the medical drama.

As the doctors' obligation to 'do no harm' takes on a new and urgent meaning, they step into news studios and the halls of Congress to bear witness and challenge both medical and political constitutions for a response. Deeply embedded with its subjects, AMERICAN DOCTOR captures the moral, professional and emotional reckoning of people who have seen too much to stay silent.
