Dir. Mel Mackie | 2025 | 35 mins plus Q&A | English
Until The Sea tells the story of the sea helping three women find belonging after leaving their home countries. Working with Reclaim the Sea, a community-led movement for a world with no borders where everyone can access the sea as a space of safety, joy, and renewal, the film explores how water can become a site of healing and resistance.
It follows their journeys as they come to see the sea not as something to fear, but as a place to reconnect—with themselves, with others, and with a new city. Until The Sea reflects on migration and belonging, showing how the ocean can offer comfort and connection when people are given the space to feel safe and welcome.

This screening is part of a fundraiser for Beyond the Buoys channel swim and Reclaim The Sea. More info about Reclaim The Sea Here.
Beyond The Buoys — Jemima, Camilla, Susie, and Flo, are a group of amateur yet passionate sea swimmers from Cornwall.
Most days you’ll find them bobbing about within the safety of the buoys at their local beach, but in September 2026 they're stepping (or swimming!) far beyond them, to take on the extraordinary challenge of swimming the English Channel.
They'll be setting off from Folkestone, England, and aiming to reach Calais, France, swimming a total of 21 miles across one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes!
As women who have personally experienced the healing and empowering effects of the sea, they know how important it is for everyone to feel safe and welcome in the water. That’s why they’re raising money for Reclaim the Sea
