For Resonance, Lisa Waldron has turned her attention to Cornwall’s subtropical gardens. The ambitious landscaping of plant species imported on Packet ships in the 19th century created a hyper reality of colour, form and place. Lisa uses her drawing and painting processes to translate complex arrangements of exotic and native plant life through rhythmic, repetitive marks and layering. It is a meditative process that allows her to fully immerse herself in her surroundings. Lisa endeavours to connect a sense of depth within the image to the gardens’ enduring existence through time.
Lisa Waldron is a multi-disciplinary
artist whose most recent work features detailed pen drawings and atmospheric
oil paintings. Lisa gained a First Class BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Birmingham
City University in 2011 and a PGCE in Secondary Art and Design at University
College London in 2015. Lisa now works and resides near Falmouth.
Lisa strives to produce an authentic
account of lived experience through her work. Her practice is driven by a
fascination in the underlying patterns and codes in the seemingly chaotic every
day. Her work exposes and laments what is simultaneously lost and gained in the
process of translation.
