The Moth & The Mic Concerts

Join us for an evening of the best in emerging talent from the Falmouth music scene hosted by John Cartwright (Smokin’ Pilchards). This Concert will feature a variety of musical styles and genres with musicians drawn from the popular ‘The Moth & The Mic’ evening hosted at The Moth & The Moon, Falmouth.

Mark Arrend:

‘Mark’s influences are early raw delta and Chicago blues, 60s garage, psychedelic folk and minimalist music.  Early this year he stumbled upon the warm and welcoming ‘Moth & Moon’ open mic encouraging him to start writing new songs again and made it his mission to write at a least one new song for each night. He will be performing some of these songs using his small but loud and proud Vox amp along with the obligatory and sometimes disturbing vintage echo…….‘

The Danish Book Club

The Danish Book club are a Falmouth based trio that started their journey on the streets of Falmouth. They’ve since taken their music all over the world and continue to play their upbeat songs in venues all over Falmouth and Cornwall.

Didge Syndrome

Didge Syndrome is a multi-instrumentalist from Falmouth who wows the crowd with his original tracks and old school hip hop covers, utilising Didgeridoo, Guitar, Beatboxing, rapping / singing and his loop station. A roof raiser at open mics across Cornwall, he's played at festivals in and out of County and has also notably supported the renowned double act Echo Town twice! An incredibly unique and upbeat act, Didge Syndrome is one you don't want to miss!

Smokin’ Pilchards

Smokin’ Pilchards describe themselves as a ‘nautical folk-stomping shanty machine’ or in other words sea shanty inspired high-energy folk that’ll make you get drunk and dance till the sun comes up!

With the Band split in two, half hailing from the port of Falmouth, Cornwall and half based in the landlocked town of Stourbridge, These Pilchards have been delighting crowds with their unique ‘Kernow-crossover' sound at festivals, pubs and clubs up and down the UK for more than 5 years.

"I love it ... it encapsulates all the greatness of folk and acoustic, also with a real rock and blues element to it" - Alex, BBC Introducing WM

“(Sounds like) early Adam and the Ants were pirates headbutting members of 80s Madness and Dexy's! ” - Nick Townsend, Ryan's Gig Guide
