Dir. Greg Cruttwell | 2025 | 95 mins plus Q&A | English
Following his acclaimed In the Middle, filmmaker Greg Cruttwell returns with Going to the Dogs, a balanced and thought-provoking documentary exploring class, culture, community — and dogs, dogs, dogs.
After World War II, greyhound racing was the UK’s second most popular sport, attracting over 75 million spectators annually. Traditionally seen as a working-class pastime, the sport has faced challenges others have not: stadium closures, competition from new forms of entertainment, and a steady decline since the 1960s.
As societal attitudes toward animal welfare have shifted, greyhound racing has become increasingly controversial. Reports of overbreeding and culling have sparked public outrage and calls for reform.
Cruttwell’s film examines whether greyhound racing still has a place in the modern world, hearing from critics who want it banned and from those fighting to preserve a fading tradition.
Plus in person Q&A with Director Greg Cruttwel.
