Dir. Beth de Araujo | 2026 | 121 mins | English
After eight-year-old Josephine witnesses a violent assault in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, the world she knows is suddenly transformed. Unable to make sense of what she has seen, Josephine begins acting out, searching for ways to regain control and feel safe.
Her parents, Claire and Damien, are left struggling with an impossible question: how do you explain violence to a child while preserving their sense that the world is a safe place?
Starring Mason Reeves alongside Gemma Chan and Channing Tatum, Josephine is an emotionally charged exploration of childhood, fear, family and the complicated aftermath of witnessing violence.
Written and directed by Beth de Araújo, the film arrives at Cornwall Film Festival following an extraordinary festival run, winning both the U.S. Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic and Audience Award: U.S. Dramatic at Sundance 2026 before screening in Competition at the Berlinale
