Chain Reaction by Textile Maids

A selection of work from both was included in the subsequent Exeter Spring Quilt shows. This is the third exhibition from the group, entitled chainREACTION.

This body of work has a cohesive visual vocabulary. An original word, EVOLUTION, prompted the ten individual responses translated into textile art; these initial pieces then inspired the second stimulus word, SEPARATION, for the next link in the chain. You will see how this generation of words continues in each artist’s work.

The only limitation was timescale, producing an intriguing collection of contemporary textile art in many diverse forms. 

chainREACTION displays an absorbing and eclectic mix of techniques including mixed media, hand and machine embroidery and handmade felt.
