Marcelo Montes is a musically imaginative composer and technical maestro of the piano. As well as performing in Lisbon, Faro, Porto and many other Portuguese cities, Marcelo plays regularly at the Ingreja da Misericodia in the town of Tavira where he practices and composes on the church's Bechstein grand piano. Beside the piano there is a donation box, and visitors can listen to him play for as long as they like. Marcelo includes many Portuguese composers in his repertoire, on occasion he performs their music along with his own in public settings around the Algarve.
Marcelo is dedicated to his music. He lives in the Portuguese countryside 20k from the town of Tavira with his aunt's family and his grandmother who is 100yrs old. There are only 2 buses a day into Tavira, one in the morning and one returning in the evening. Marcelo has toured in Cornwall before, performing to sell out audiences, at The Poly in Falmouth for example, and St. Mary's in Penzance amngst other venues. In March 2025, Marcelo returns to Cornwall, this time with an even greater repertoire, shining a light onto Portuguese Classical Music and performing his own new and breathtakingly virtuoso compositions. His focus and dedication is both incredible and inspiring.
To be immersed in Marcelo's playing is a truly magical experience.
