What can the Queen of Crime teach us about surviving upheaval and beginning again? Cathy Rentzenbrink comes to Falmouth with The Agatha Christie Cure, an uplifting mixture of memoir, literary detective story and love letter to the consoling power of books.
Finding herself exhausted by midlife upheavals and the end of her marriage, Cathy returned to the writer she had first loved as a nine-year-old. Immersing herself in Christie’s novels and investigating the mystery of her disappearance in 1926, she discovered another story beneath the ingenious plots, exotic journeys and country-house murders: that of an adventurous and innovative woman who endured a profound personal crisis and found a way to rebuild her life.
Cathy joins us to explore Christie’s enduring appeal, the clues she concealed within her fiction and the ways reading can sustain us through grief, loneliness and change. Warm, candid and often very funny, this is an event for lifelong Christie devotees and curious newcomers alike.
