This talk will review the unfolding energy crisis. In particular, it will: set out the geopolitical context including both the Russo-Ukraine and Gulf Wars; provide deeper insights into the global energy system and its centrality to the global economy; forecast the national and international consequences. After a 1st career in the Royal Navy, Commodore Steve Jermy’s 2nd career was in the offshore energy sector. He stepped down as CEO of Celtic Sea Power, Cornwall Council’s floating offshore wind industrial development company, in March 2026 and now consults on geopolitics and energy, is a regular YouTube on a number of international outlets, and is developing a new scientific discipline entitled Macro-Energetics.
