JOSEF FIOL....
Comes a certain age: come thoughts of finality.
In regard to the public aspect of my work, I thought I should decide whether, at 92, I should silently slide away, or graciously step aside with a gesture of farewell in the form of one final exhibition.
After considerable thought, I decided to complete the circle and end at my beginning with a show of the early work. I have tended to meander between drawing, painting, printmaking, construction, photography, film and writing. Gathering all the various strands in on exhibition would be a problem. There would need to be a narrowing down. For that reason, only drawing and painting will be on display. The paintings tend to be on the large side (some 12” x 9”). It would not take many pieces to fill any available venue.
So rather than show the work in the original, I have followed the practice set in my previous exhibitions ‘Drawing with Light’ in 2019 and ‘Lux Aeterna’ in 2023 and opted for large format Fine Art quality reproductions.
