Under the Shadow is a critically acclaimed and BAFTA winning psychological horror set in 1980s Tehran, where a mother and daughter navigate the pressures of war alongside an unsettling presence within the home.
Following the screening, Mary Wild – Iranian-Canadian podcaster and author of Psychoanalysing Horror Cinema – will offer a short presentation, opening up the film’s themes and implications. The event will then move into a wider discussion with the audience.
The evening forms part of Psychoanalysis & Cinema, a series using film as a lens through which to reflect on contemporary experience.
