The Spotlite Trio is a young London-based jazz ensemble breathing fresh life into the classic piano trio tradition. Formed during a six-week residency at China's prestigious JZ Club in Hangzhou, the group quickly developed a distinctive musical chemistry through performing together night after night.
Their debut recording, Live at the Mildmay, captures the spirit of those early performances: jazz standards reimagined with elegance, spontaneity, and infectious swing. Featuring Sam Davies (piano), Asaph Tal (bass) and Louie North (drums), the trio combines technical excellence with a natural sense of communication and joy in the music-making.
Rooted in the jazz tradition, The Spotlite Trio brings memorable melodies, inventive improvisation, and fresh and exciting musical energy.
Joining the trio for selected performances is acclaimed vocalist Camille Rose, whose expressive voice and modern approach bring an additional dimension to the group's sound.
Camille Rose is an emerging jazz vocalist from South-East London whose warm, expressive voice blends classic jazz influences with a contemporary soulful spirit. Often compared to a meeting of Ella Fitzgerald and Amy Winehouse, she brings both elegance and emotional depth to her performances, combining musical sensitivity with an engaging and distinctive presence.
For En Rapport and Falmouth, the concert has a special connection, as bassist Asaph Tal is a former participant in the En Rapport Jazz Summer School between 2017-19 and has since gone on to establish himself as part of a new generation of outstanding young jazz musicians.
