Raku: 6-week Course

Ever wanted to dip your toes into the world of raku? Join our one off 6-week course and explore a mesmerising ancient firing method.

Over six weeks you will handcraft and refine your own unique ceramic pieces, experiment with bespoke Raku glazes, designed for dramatic, one-of-a-kind results, experience the thrill of pulling red-hot pots from the flames at 1000°, and understand how to harness smoke and rapid cooling techniques to create rich textures, deep crackles, and breathtaking surfaces.

Designed for both beginners and experienced potters this workshop is a space to experiment and explore. Whether you're looking to deepen your practice or simply experience Raku with some expert guidance, this is an opportunity to craft something truly special!

What is raku?

Raku is an ancient Japanese low-firing method using combustible materials to create fantastic effects. Red hot pots are pulled out of the kiln at 1000°c creating unique crackled glazes, metallic sheens, and dark, earthy patterns on your work.

This course is designed for complete beginners and for those with some prior experience.

*All materials and equipment provided. Firing date will be confirmed closer to the start of the course*
