Life Drawing is an essential and enjoyable part of the artist’s journey. It provides drawing practice in proportion, perspective and composition. Capturing the human form using different techniques and artistic mediums can express a diverse spectrum of moods, feelings and emotions beautifully. These valuable skills are transferable across the breadth of the artist’s work whatever their chosen subject.
This fully instructed three-week course is designed for beginners to life drawing.
In the first session, you will learn the fundamental methods and techniques for drawing the human figure in proportion, using tabletop mannequins to develop your observation and drawing skills.
The second session introduces a professional life model, giving you the opportunity to apply what you have learned about proportion while drawing the figure from life.
In the third session, you will build on these foundations by experimenting with a range of drawing media and techniques to explore the contours, textures and tonal qualities of the human form.
Please note: The first session does not include a life model. Instead, participants will work from tabletop mannequins.
This course offers a friendly, supportive environment, and no previous drawing experience is necessary.

Classes will take place in the Library space at The Poly
